Current biodiesel production practices entail the consumption of fossil fuels. The original proposal for green air travel supported using biodiesel (Wardle 03), included a mechanism to offset this consumption, so that the resulting green air travel was, in effect, " fossil free. " It is now recognized that the mechanism was not properly designed, and, in the present paper, a revised mechanism is presented. With the revised mechanism, green air travel is approximately 65% more expensive than originally predicted (and anticipated consumer demand is therefore only half as great as originally predicted). In contrast, the quantity of biodiesel required by the airline industry to deliver a given quantity of green air miles actually decreases (by approximately 30%). Otherwise, the change in mechanism does not affect any of the other numbers in Wardle 03, nor does it affect any of the principal conclusions reached in that paper.
